We sadly announce the passing of long-time area resident Kenneth Angus Mckay on October 5, 2020, at his home in Ashcroft at the age of 93 years. He was surrounded by his family.

Ken is survived by his children Gayle (Larry) Cochlan, Susan (Dwight) Lawson, Kathy (Don) Pears, Alan McKay, and Daniel McKay, his sixteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sisters Shirley (Bill) Porter and Bev (Dennis).

He was predeceased by his brother Don McKay, parents Perl and Albert, his loving wife Jean Mary (Beenham) McKay on December 11, 2002, son David Bruce McKay April 21, 1997, and grandchildren Leanne and Jonathon.

Ken was a well-known cattle rancher in the area. He was an experienced Teamster who handled draft horses, and he received a lifetime achievement from the Inland Draft & Teamsters Association for his long-time involvement with their organization.

He loved all animals, especially his dogs. He was a family man who cherished spending time with his family and friends. He had a very generous nature and a natural gift for storytelling.
