Stuart, Judy (Marian)

October 28, 1943 ~ January 20, 2019

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Nana - Judy (Marian) Stuart (nee Black) in the early morning hours of January 20, 2019.

Predeceased by her husband Keith and her ex-husband Larry, she is survived by her children Willy Van Allen, Kellie (Dale) Niessen, Stacey (Ian) McGregor and Teri (Carl) Van Allen, her brother in-law Carl (Anna) Van Allen and her close friends Sharon (Bert) Bouwmeester, Donna & Ken Poirier and Daughter-in-law Leanne Sturmey. In addition to her numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren she is also survived by her family-byheart members, one brother and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nana was a very special lady who opened her heart and her door to many, many people over the course of her life. She lived, loved and laughed hard through life. She was always there with an invitation, a meal or a bed whenever there wasn’t one. She taught all of us how to love and to share what we had. She offered Safe-Haven to anyone that needed because happiness, love and safety were foremost. She showed us strength, compassion and the true meaning of love.

She volunteered for many community clubs throughout the years which helped to solidify so many friendships and happy memories. The Cache Creek OORP, Recreation Commission and, of course, the Royal Canadian Legion were three of her biggest, but she is also so very well known for the many bingos that she ran to support so many other charities in our area.

As Publisher of the Journal, Mom started the Annual Santa Clause Parade here in Ashcroft and chaired it for many years. The Santa Float was always her pride and joy only topped by her infamous Christmas in July celebration. Needless to say – she loved Christmas and her house sported a 365 day a year Christmas theme downstairs.

Mom loved to fish, to camp and to throw back a few every now and then. She loved to dance, laugh and have a good time wherever she went. She touched the hearts of so many people and forged lifelong friendships that passed down through generations.

She was Nana.

We would like to offer a huge thanks to all of the friends and family that helped and supported Mom over the last few years. You were always by her side and there to help. We’d also like to thank the Trinity Ward Staff at the Overlander Extended Care Facility for the amazing care given, not only to Mom, but to all of us during her last few days. They are amazing people doing an amazing job.

There will be a celebration of life service held on February 3, 2019 at the Ashcroft Community Hall at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the charity of your choice in her memory.
